Invisalign clear aligners

Simcoe Family Dentistry is now Offering Invisalign (Clear Aligners)!

Do you love your smile? If not, what would you change? Our team has recently completed our Invisalign training to help improve not only your smile, but the overall health of your teeth and gums. Correcting the bite is so much more than straight teeth. Creating the smile you have always wanted could actually help you to keep your teeth healthier for life!

Risks of Malocclusion:

When teeth are not straight (in alignment), you have a harder time removing plaque and food debris, as well as the bacteria that comes with it. This, over the long term, will affect the health of your gums by causing inflammation and in some cases recession. When the teeth are in malocclusion, we often see signs of grinding, clenching or a “heavy bite”. This causes unnecessary wear on the teeth and can also be the cause of gum recession as well as abfraction or chipping of the teeth at the gumline. These issues related to malocclusion may result in bone loss over time and the eventual loss of teeth due to lack of support.

What can we do?

For many cases, invisible aligners work very well in straightening the teeth. First, you will have a consultation with Dr Mikhail to assess and complete orthodontic records. This will allow Dr Mikhail to come up with a comprehensive treatment plan that you can actually see in 3D animation. This feature is quite amazing to watch as you see your teeth move from malocclusion to a healthy, stable smile! Treatment consists of a series of invisible trays (or aligners) worn for approximately 2 weeks at a time until Dr Mikhail gets the desired result. These trays are almost undetectable while being worn and will not affect your speech. They will not change the foods you are able to eat like traditional orthodontics will, and they are generally very comfortable to wear.

Straightening the teeth has a much more important objective than just aesthetic improvement. Straight teeth will be easier for you to clean and provide for you some stability to help you keep your teeth for as long as you need them. If this is something you have considered before, or if you are just considering now, please reach out to our office and we will determine if Invisalign treatment will be the right option for you!
