When it comes to toothpaste there can be too many choices! The oral health care aisle at your local pharmacy or superstore can be a pretty overwhelming place to be! All too often, it is easiest just to choose the toothpaste that is on sale. We are here to help you navigate the aisle and choose the toothpaste that will most suit your individual needs.
If you have: | Choose: |
---|---|
Sensitive Teeth | A sensitivity toothpaste such as Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief or Sensodyne. These each have a different active ingredient that will help to block the exposed tubules usually associated with sensitivity. Because they have different ingredients, if one is not working, please try the other! |
Thinning Enamel | A toothpaste meant for enamel health such as Colgate Enamel Health or Sensodyne ProNamel. These both contain minerals such as fluoride to help to strengthen enamel and to protect against acid wear. |
High Risk of Cavities | A toothpaste high in fluoride. Fluoride helps to protect the teeth by strengthening enamel and reducing acid wear. The high fluoride toothpaste we most recommend is Colgate PreviDent. This toothpaste also comes in a sensitivity formula. |
Don’t let the toothpaste aisle scare you into purchasing a toothpaste that might not be ideal for your unique oral health needs. At Simcoe Family Dentistry, your dentist or hygienist will discuss with you which type will be best for you to use and write it down so that you won’t forget. While there might be to many choices for toothpaste, we are always here to help!
