Do you love your smile? If not, what would you change? Our team has recently completed our Invisalign training to help improve not only your smile, but the overall health of your teeth and gums. Correcting the bite is so much more than straight teeth. Creating the smile you have always wanted could actually help you to keep your teeth healthier for life!
Dental x-rays are images of your teeth that allow the dentist to evaluate your health beyond what can be seen with the naked eye or felt by a dental examination. Dental x-rays are not only important in diagnosing cavities between the teeth and underneath existing fillings, but can also aid your dentist in identifying issues such as bone loss, sinus congestion, impacted (not erupted) teeth and even signs of a more serious problem such as cancer.
Dr Mikhail and the team at Simcoe Family Dentistry would love to welcome the Barrie Community to our 2nd Annual Community BBQ in support of the Barrie Food Bank on July 27th in our parking lot at 11 Ferris Lane! This free family event was such a great success last year that we thought we would do it again this year – but bigger and better!
Throughout our life stages our oral health care needs change. Today, we would like to discuss the unique dental needs of seniors – what seniors can do for homecare to support these needs as well as what we can do as oral healthcare providers.
We know how important it is to take care of our teeth and that regular dental appointments are an integral part of that care. Did you know that it is estimated that 75% of adults have some degree of fear of the dentist? For some, the fear is so great that they are actually unable to have dental treatments.
The CDA reports that while 73% of the population brushes twice per day, only 28% are regularly flossing. Could this be due to the (highly inaccurate) report back in 2016 that flossing was not beneficial to your oral health? Or is it just because most people hate the feeling of string wrapped around the fingers and two hands trying to maneuver the floss between the teeth?
Have you or a loved one been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes? If so, you should know that there is a link between diabetes and gum disease. In fact, diabetes and gum disease often go hand in hand. If bacteria in the mouth reproduces unchecked, it causes inflammation.
We often strive to make sound eating choices based on our personal health requirements as well as recommendations by the nutritional experts. Did you know your dental health team also has nutritional recommendations that will help to improve your oral health?
